Shawn Mendes was discovered on Vine, as one of the old platform's most followed musicians. Social media use for artists is a total game changer, and will often make or break an artist's music career. Yes, these channels prove as a great means of discovery by music companies, but they also allow artists to take on the role of gaining their own exposure — playing the label role for themselves as independent artists. The ease of running ads on social media also plays a big role in artists getting their music to the ears of listeners. They can simply put together a post, input their target audience's interests, narrow down geographically where they want their ad to run, and pick their own run times and budget. Given how many rely on their smartphones nowadays, artists can push their music to potential listeners anywhere, anytime. Social media is not only a great tool that artists are using to grow their careers, but it is very much necessary to have a presence on in today's music climate. Music Distribution Services – No Label Needed It used to be that you'd have to get signed to get your music out there.
1. Get a up-close look of the splendid floats! The 11 spectacular floats of this Autumn festival are "dragged" into place and lined up with immense presence. With plenty of prowess simply lined up as they are, you will be most certainly blown away by the chance to witness the detail and gorgeousness of the floats' sculptures and embroidery. Loads of people surround the displayed stages and literally let out moans of admiration and wonder. Get a good close look! Just don't touch. 2. You must see these acrobatic stunts You must watch the Karakuri Hounou (the name for these Shinto festival offerings performed by mechanical puppets), performed on the float named Hoteitai. With the accompanying traditional music in the back, dolls called Karako (with Chinese style clothing and hair) manage to cross a trapeze called aya, head over heals, and then land on the shoulders of another doll portraying Hotei, the potbellied god in the seven gods of good luck. This stunt alone is worth the trip. The detail of these adorable dolls along with the dynamics of their acrobatic skills are truly unique.

"My costar at the time — I was on a soap opera — was Brittany Snow. [Brittany] kinda maybe knew [Mandy], sort of. I was like, 'Can you give [Mandy] my number? ' … She never called me. The 100-year-old locomotive known as ''Old No. 385'' sat dormant in a Harrison commercial yard for nearly a decade after years of pulling freight, leading sightseeing tours and being used to teach students about steam technology. But this week the hulking engine is making its way to its new home, the Whippany Railway Museum in Hanover Township, where it will serve as the symbol of a historic transportation age New Jersey helped shape a century ago. The engine, donated to the museum by a Lodi man who saved it from being scrapped nine years ago, began its 26-mile journey Friday at the commercial yard when it was lifted onto a flatbed truck and driven to an industrial site in Cedar Knolls. Yesterday, a crane lifted the 75-ton engine off the truck, carried it 15 feet in the air, then lowered it onto a nearby train track. A crowd of more than 20 people -- some who lived near, worked on or rode the steam engine -- stood with digital photo and video cameras to see Old No. 385 move to a new home.
