The period of September through November shows a common pattern for almost every location — more rains in September and then less rain for the rest of the fall season. The east coast of Florida sees continued high rainfall, especially south Florida, because September is the worst month of the year for the Caribbean hurricane season. As a result, the east coast is susceptible to bad remnant weather. Average temperatures drop about 10 degrees over the three-month period. Rainfall is even lower in November, but temperatures drop another five degrees or so. Ocean swimming will be a bit cooler than you would probably like however. Average temps in chart below. Insecticides kill grubs more effectively if watered in after application. The only exception is carbaryl (Sevin) used to control green June beetles; it should not be watered in. After treatment, green June beetle grubs may be found on the soil surface, whereas other grub species will die in the soil. No matter which product or approach is selected, be sure to follow label directions. Recommendations for insecticides approved for control of these insects in home lawns can be found under the white grubs listing in the North Carolina Agricultural Chemicals Manual. Recommendations for insecticides approved for use on sod farms, golf courses or other commercial sites can be found in the North Carolina Agricultural Chemicals Manual. Recent studies indicate that traps for Japanese beetle adults have no real impact on the subsequent population of grubs in the soil. The use of Japanese beetle traps can also attract the foliage-feeding adults into areas where they may feed on ornamental landscape plants.
South Eastern Asia, including Malaysia, Laos, Thailand, and Indonesia, and the western side of India, enjoy a wet tropical climate with hot weather all year round and a pronounced monsoon season. These areas see summer temperatures in the high 20s to low 30s and winter temperatures in the mid 20s. Night times only cool off by a few degrees and humidity is always high. Rainfall is low out of the wet season which lasts from June till August. The wet season sees dramatic downpours and impressive thunderstorms. Modern cities are equipped with immense monsoon drains to accommodate these deluges, but even here flash flooding can occur and sometimes even landslides. High rainfall and humidity support extensive rainforests. In the dry season the beaches and reefs of South Eastern Asia are a pull for tourists from all over the world. While it is heavily developed there are still many pockets of unspoilt paradise. Northern Asia is western Russia. The Ural Mountains divide European Russia from Asian Russia.
Given that tropical waters are typically warm, the overlying air becomes warm and humid (meaning that mT air masses have high dew points). Of course, summer mT air masses are the most stifling, particularly in the Deep South, where daytime temperatures often reach the 90s while merciless and muggy dew points edge toward the middle 70s or higher. The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and the tropical waters of the western Atlantic and eastern Pacific are also common source regions for mT air masses that affect the contiguous United States. continental-Tropical (cT): A hot, dry (meaning low dew points) air mass that originates over desert regions. In summer, temperatures in cT air masses can soar to more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit, but the low dew points often (perhaps jokingly) cause some folks to refer to the feeling in the air mass as "a dry heat. " cT air masses that impact the United States tend to originate over Mexico and the Southwest United States. continental-Polar (cP): An air mass that forms over cold land.
