I am a licensed and permitted Mosquito Lagoon fishing guide and it is one of my favorite places to fish. This is the premiere destination for sight fishing for redfish in Central Florida. I spend more time fishing here each year than anywhere else. Mosquito Lagoon is one of the last undeveloped areas on the whole east coast of Florida. Not only does Mosquito Lagoon offer great year round fishing, it is also a place a natural beauty. This 21 mile long lagoon begins at Ponce Inlet to the north which is bordered by Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach. In the upper reaches, there is a small tidal influence and the waters are generally stained. As you travel south, near the town of Oak Hill, the maze of islands give way. From Oak Hill south, there is no tidal influence in the mostly open body of water just over two miles wide. The bottom is mostly sand with shallow areas mostly covered in manatee and shoal grass. These grass flats are what make Mosquito Lagoon, or Mosquito Bay, as it is often mistakenly called, such a great place to fish.
Try dressing in layers, which can provide even more warmth than a single heavy item. A garment made of lightweight wool is a smart choice for the layer that's next to your skin — it's good at trapping warm, dry air so it will keep you toasty. A vest is also a wise investment: By insulating your core, warmer blood is continually sent out to the body's extremities, which keeps them warmer. Opt for a fleece or down vest, which will keep you warm without adding a lot of weight. When buying outerwear, consider both functionality (such as ease of opening and clothing) and durability (weather protection). Despite keeping you warm and dry, bulky or heavy items can hinder ease of movement and even affect balance. These assistive devices can help make getting dressed easier. 5. Wear compression gloves Donning accessories like hats, scarves, gloves, and boots is especially important, since the majority of heat is lost from the body's extremities. You might want to try out a pair of thermal compression gloves.

Icy sidewalks and roads send thousands of Americans to the hospital each year with preventable injuries. Even enjoyable winter past-times like skiing, sledding, and ice skating send dozens of Americans to the ER with serious injuries every year. Injuries that later may turn into chronic, painful lessons. And of course we can`t talk winter without mentioning the aches and pains caused by the common cold and flu. With as many as 200 different cold viruses, and estimates of 5-20 percent of the population catching the flu virus each year, millions of people are left suffering from aches, pains and general malaise. So what can you do? As obvious as it may sound, the best way to stay well is to stay warm! Whether inside or out, keeping your body temperature as close to normal is key. Avoid drafts and dress in layers to allow for you to adjust your comfort level as needed. Other remedies: Stay hydrated. Because dehydration can cause muscle cramps, lethargy, and general soreness, drink sufficient fluids to keep you hydrated.
