The beach is backed by a promenade which is lined by colourful beach huts. The beach has consistently been rated as excellent for its water quality over the last few years. Dovercourt From Dovercourt beach it is possible to see across to Felixstowe and Walton Dovercourt beach is known to be quieter than larger beaches, such as Clacton, but is still popular with many families. It is a sand and shingle beach that slopes down to the sea. From the beach it is possible to see Felixstowe, Walton and Hamford National Nature Reserve. The water quality has been rated as excellent continuously over the last few years, with only 10 colonies of and IE being found in each sample taken this year.
