Hey kiwis, So I'm going to Sydney for work for two weeks in May. It'll be my first trip south of the equator and even though it's mostly for work I'm really excited! Even better news, I have been able to take a week off afterwards to visit NZ! I'll be there from the 27th to the 31st of May. I've got 5 days, no car (though I could rent one), backpacking gear, snowboarding gear, and I can start in any city that gets flights from Sydney. Multi-day Hiking? I would love to do some tramping. The problem is, I've done some research but haven't been able to nail down what the weather would be like or which hikes might be good to do. I was really looking forward to doing the Kepler track (I was supposed to be there in April but the trip was delayed). I've seen that April is great for hiking but I won't be there until the last week of May. I know that is in the off season and most of the info I could find says that it would require more gear and prep than I have money or time to get. Is that the case in late May?
