Our 3 girls had lessons with PDS and had a fantastic week. Tom and Rhydian were terrific instructors – patient yet firm and a huge dose of fun. Jane N, Lewes, United Kingdom Private lesson for boys 8 and 10: Alex showed the boys new moves, by the end of the lessons they had nailed shifties, spread eagles, daffys and straights. Onto 3s and more switch tomorrow. And no, I have no idea what they are talking about either. Jon C, Stratford-Upon-Avon We booked group lessons for our 2 boys aged 9 and 6 for 5 days. They had 3 hours every morning which was perfect. They were beginners who had only skied for a couple of days previously. By the end of the week they were amazing. Three organizations in Moncton partnered to provide education and training for various workers on how to handle overdose situations. AIDS Moncton, Medavie HealthEd and the RCMP hosted the session, giving workers from local organizations the chance to learn how to address and hopefully prevent overdoses from occurring. "We taught them about drug awareness and recognition, " explained Ricky Babineau, Program Liason at Medavie HealthEd where the session was held. "Some of our primary care paramedic students went through with them some basic airway management skills … and then what to do with a potential of overdose. " READ MORE: New report identifies need for addictions, mental health support in N. B. Increasing the knowledge of front line workers whose clients often struggle with addictions should lead to saved lives. Workers were shown how through the use of Narcan, a nasal spray that blocks the effects of opioids, they can halt an overdose in an emergency situation. Story continues below advertisement "Our organizations including AIDS Moncton interact with people who are at risk of overdose every day in our day-to-day work whether we're doing needle distribution service, whether we're providing shelter or we're doing outreach work, " said Debby Warren, Executive Director of AIDS Moncton.
If a number of companies are ruled out of investment by fund managers, the choice is smaller, so the risk to investors could be greater, she says. "When considering ethical funds, investors should be aware that the more limited investment universe would tend to be more concentrated and include smaller holdings which may make them higher risk compared to the average fund in the sector, " she says. One area that has seen a mix of ethics, religion and finance - certainly on the international scene - is the growth of Islamic finance. The system, which is based on gaining profits in a socially responsible manner, is thought to be worth $1. 3 trillion (£800bn). Some of the big banks have seen a rise in interest and have opened operations in many Muslim countries. Back in the UK, Islamic and ethical finance remain a small segment of the industry. But, while the Church of England has been caught up in embarrassment through its investment policy, it has inadvertently raised the profile of ethical investments.
