Serious question in an effort to help my understanding of this case: What is fundamentally criminal about this? As in, what makes this a crime capable of facing jail time? I agree this is highly unethical, and the students involved should be expelled, but to cheat a private organization to get into a private university doesn't feel like a legal crime. Public universities might be different, but for private universities, it seems to me the default punishment would be to expel the student.

The output from the sun in these wavelengths is nearly constant and changes by only one part in a thousand (0. 1%) over the course of the 11-year solar cycle. At Ultraviolet or UV wavelengths (120 – 400 nm), the solar irradiance variability is larger over the course of the solar cycle, with changes up to 15%. This has a significant impact on the absorption of energy by ozone and in the stratosphere. At shorter wavelengths, like the Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV), the Sun changes by 30% - 300% over very short timescales (i. e. minutes). These wavelengths are absorbed in the upper atmosphere so they have minimal impact on the climate of Earth. At the other end of the light spectrum, at Infrared (IR) wavelengths (800 – 10, 000 nm), the Sun is very stable and only changes by a percent or less over the solar cycle. The total wavelength-integrated energy from sunlight is referred to as the Total Solar Irradiance (TSI). It is measured from satellites to be about 1365. 5 Watts/m2 at solar minimum to 1366.
Instead I had stayed in the shade and vowed to use an on-course toilet later on. Well, this urinal appeared at mile 8 so that is what I did. Saw some colleagues around mile 9, ran through a shower setup by a local fire station around the same point. We were already passing people here: some people had already started walking. Long day at the office ahead for them. At mile 10 a spectator was handing out frozen ice lollies, so I took one. Coca-cola flavour - was very refreshing. Two minutes later I saw my wife, parents and brother for the first time so we stopped for a brief high-5 and exchange of words. Miles 11-13 included seeing a couple of other colleagues, some friends of Pete's and the wall of noise at Tower Bridge, which was immense. Around mile 14 we saw the leaders of the men's race come by (it's an out and back section) - Farah looked really strong in third, but of course Kipchoge just looked effortless out front. Miles 15-17 involved more showers, more jelly babies, more high-fives and more banter.
