Posted by (Charlotte, Nc) on 09/18/12 03:07 PM we will be traveling to Switzerland for the first time in early November. I am having a hard time finding what will/will not be open. For example, will the schilthorn restaurant on top of the man be open? Will we be able to access the mannlichen-Kline scheidegg trail? What lifts could we take? These are some things recommended in Rick's book but it doesn't talk about earlybnovember. Help please. Thank you! This topic has been automatically closed due to a period of inactivity.

If you want to avoid rain, your preferred destination could be Lausanne. Note that the gap in temperature between the different areas in the country is low and the number of rainy days should be the same across the country. The country is rather climatically homogeneous in this season. Based on weather conditions, our advice for one of the best destinations in Swiss during November is Lausanne. Click on the name of a city to read more details about it, have more climate data history and see weather forecasts. Despite its small area, Switzerland has a very varied climate that depends on the region: The area of Ticino in the south has a Mediterranean climate; others enjoy more of a continental climate, according to differences in altitude. Temperatures drop quickly in the mountains and the summits over 3000 meters, keep their snow all year round. According to the activities you wish to practice, you can enjoy Switzerland in all seasons: skiing in the Swiss Alps from November to April, hiking in the summer months, trips to Geneva and around the lake shore in the spring, visiting Castles in the Bernese Oberland in the fall... Not the best weather?

Perhaps you can rearrange your itinerary, but in any case weather can be iffy in November, and there's little point going up if you can't see anything. One night here and one night there sounds very unrelaxing. Are you sure this is for you? If you are heading through Switzerland to Italy, perhaps it is worth thinking about St Moritz / Pontresina. Diavolezza should have snow and be open, and it is a scenic train journey to Tirano in Italy, and onward. But again you have to be lucky with the weather. I agree with Hambagahle. Jungfraujoch isn't a great idea in the short hours of November, and especially in such a short visit. You need to fit in Switzerland within your general itinerary. If you are lucky with the weather, it can be glorious out of season. Good luck 3. Firstly thank u.. this itinerary was prepared by the travel agency. What about December.
