Ayers Rock – or Uluru, as it's known to the Aboriginal owners of the land – is one of Australia's most iconic landmarks. Found in the middle of the red sandy outback in the Northern Territory, Uluru / Ayers Rock is sacred to the Aboriginal people. It is said that the Red Centre, the area around Alice Springs where you'll encounter Uluru, is the spiritual epicenter of Australia. In 1993, a policy was adopted that allowed official names that consist of both the traditional Aboriginal name and the English name. So in 1993, the rock was renamed Ayers Rock / Uluru and the order of the dual names was officially reversed to Uluru / Ayers Rock in 2002. Uluru / Ayer's Rock is more than just a big boulder and it should be on your Australia travel must-see list. There are many things to do while you are there from hiking around the rock to learning about Aboriginal culture. There are unique places to stay in this special place that seem to blend into the dunes and rock formations. At Ayers Rock Resort, you'll experience the sacred rock and all its wonder through some of their resort-based experiences and tours.
The temperature conditions are characterised by moderate warming during the daytime and clearly defined seasons. Altitude has a large influence on the temperature. As a rule, the higher the altitude the lower the temperature. However, in winter it is sometimes the case that cold air settles in the valley while warm air rises to higher altitudes. Hours of sunshine In Tirol's alpine environment there are two factors which influence the number of hours of sunshine. Firstly, local topography determines if a specific location lies in the shade of a mountain or not. Secondly, cloud cover and fog also play a major role, though in Tirol fog tends to burn off quickly. As a rule, mountain peaks and south-facing slopes get the most hours of sunshine. Precipitation Precipitation falls across the region in the form of rain and snow. This is the result of weather fronts which form at the point where warm and cold air meets. The Alps represent a barrier stopping air from flowing, so the highest levels of precipitation tend to be on the northern and southern edges of the Alps.

Bavarian mountain hound is a bloodhound bred for hunting. The Bavarian mountain hound can be dated back to the Middle Ages under the name 'bracke' which is equivalent to the English 'hound' (bloodhound). Character and behaviour The Bavarian mountain hound gets closely attached to its owner and quite often only to one person. At the same time it can be reserved toward strangers and other dogs. The Bavarian mountain hound is very independent, strong-willed, and loves to use the nose. It has strong hunting instincts but will also function as a family dog as long as it has a job to do e. g. hunt or another activity. History of the breed The Bavarian mountain hound can be traced back to the Middle Ages, however, the first breeding programme took place at prince Thurn & Taxis in the 19th century. Subsequently, this breed and this type of dog became very popular in Bavaria where the hunting fields are mountainous, hard-to-reach places, and easy for the game to hide. The need for a smaller more athletic type of dog than the 'bracke' emerged.
