To further eradication, notices will first be sent to such doctors, others; later, cases will be filed As per the national strategic plan, the government aims to eradicate tuberculosis (TB) by 2025 — but, only 45 out of the city's 6, 671 registered nursing homes, private clinics, private laboratories and diagnostic centres, healthcare establishments, including hospitals and chemists, are reporting TB cases to the Pune Municipal Corporation ( PMC). With several requests and efforts by PMC yielding no results, it has decided to start taking stringent action now, even as doctors claim they are cooperating as well as creating awareness. PMC health chief Dr Ramchandra Hankare has issued orders to initiate action against doctors and institutes not adhering to rules. He shared, "The 2025 TB eradication will not happen if private doctors and institutes, and pharmacists don't cooperate with local bodies. Action will be taken against such errant entities. Initially, notices will be issued — later, cases filed. "
