An interesting side trip off the Viking Trail Jul. 2019 • Couples We stopped here to view the salmon ladder, and found an informative visitors centre, with helpful guides. Our young guide took us down to see the fish through the viewing windows, and gave us the history of how the ladder came into being. A great stop to learn more about Newfoundland's connection with fishing. Written August 2, 2019 This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Level Contributor 34 posts 10 reviews 24 helpful votes We are thinking about going to Chania in July. I have been reading about the meltimi wind. Can anyone tell me how regular an occurrence this is in July I was just wondering if it usually blew up every day or was less frequent than that and when it does blow if it was uncomfortable to stay outside. 2, 767 posts 7 reviews 8 helpful votes 1. Re: July Weather 6 years ago Hi Meltemi winds are usually more often from August to September. No guaranties of course can be given in July, but coming on early July has more chances not to have meltemi. The beaches that are affected mostly are the southern ones, which make the sand blow all over the beach and makes sunbathing difficult and uncomfortable. 2. Thanks for the response. I thought that but I was reading some websites that were making it sound like Crete was engulfed in a sandstorm every summer! 2, 775 posts 118 reviews 970 helpful votes 3. Meltemi are two weeks and comes the last two weeks in August, normally.
Integrated with a new report of Gaojiashania from Namibia, previous fossil reports and existing age constraints, these finds demonstrate a distinctive late Ediacaran fossil assemblage comprising at least two groups of macroscopic organisms with dissimilar body plans that ecologically and temporally overlapped for at least 6 Myr at the close of the Ediacaran Period. This cosmopolitan biotic assemblage disappeared from the fossil record at the end of the Ediacaran Period, prior to the Cambrian radiation.
